About the artist - A poet and dancer, Abena uses words and movement to create, engage, and elevate. She is a solo and group dancer of traditional and modern West African Dances, step or stomp, and is an enthusiast of various styles of African dance. She is exploring other interpretive forms of movement as well. For Abena, dance is poetry in physical form. It makes her feel alive and carefree and she hopes to bring this sense of life and lightness to others.
