This event marks 40 years that our Association has been in existence in Nova Scotia. We aim to have 250 individuals attending our conference.
Our theme; 40 years: Still fighting for Justice! will focus on the lack of justice within the African Nova Scotian Community on social matters that pertain to people of African descent. In addition, theme topics at the conference will consist of: the over-representation of black inmates in the criminal justice system, the lack of required services in the health care system, over representation of ANS children & families in the child welfare system, sexualized violence, systemic racism, discrimination, and the overall fact that 40 years later we are still fighting for the same issues.
September 26th Registration starts at 8:30 am conference starts at 9:00 am.

There is a lack of education and knowledge when it comes to issues in the African Nova Scotian Community. This conference will provide networking opportunties, awareness and strategies on a number of social issues to those in attendance. The overall goal is that the learning will enhance service delivery to ANS individuals and communities.
