In partnership with the United States Consulate General, we invite you to join us for a special African Heritage Month screening of the cinematic documentary, Woman in Motion.

Woman in Motion is the story of how an artist empowered herself to empower others. It is the story of the actress who portrayed Star Trek’s Lt. Uhura and how she became a breaker of barriers and the recruiter of astronauts.

Nichelle Nichols challenged the present to create the future. She made space exploration for everyone by asking one profound question, “Where are my people?”

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

Panelists:

Ashley Hill – Founder and Executive Director of the PREP Academy April Howe – Deputy Minister, NS Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Angela Simmonds - Senior Advisor, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), McInnes Cooper, former MLA for Preston Leanne Sample – Deputy Chief Sheriff, NS Department of Justice Nzingha Millar – Co-Founder of ACCE Halifax Network, Communications Consultant
