With more than 20 years’ experience, the Africentric conference is still providing the best informed Provincial Professional Development to support educators, community & Education stakeholders, parents and guardians to bring a strong emphasis on how to support students of African ancestry within today’s public school system in the province of Nova Scotia. The Public School system fully recognizes the challenges providing deliverables, organizing relevant pedagogical approaches while providing culturally responsive instruction that will more importantly engage and provide the confidence students of African ancestry require in this public school system. This year our emphasis will center around " The Pre-Africentric Conference theme of INEQUITABLE OPPRESSION – EMERGENT CULTURAL COMPETENCE IN THE CLASSROOM: Ways in which we inadvertently /advertently oppress the growth of students of color in the classroom and how to overcome these challenges.
