These workshops have been created in order to address the questions and concerns surrounding mental health for community members. There is often a stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness and these workshops will be a way to educate and support those in our community. The Mental Health Workshop series will focus on the following topics:

  • Session 1: Overview of mental health and illness with an emphasis on Bi-Polar Disorder
  • Session 2: Depression and Anxiety
  • Session 3: Living with Dementia
  • Session 4: Mental Health & You: Coping strategies for living with mental illness


Each session will host both healthcare professionals and First Voice speakers. The healthcare professionals include, Dr. Cinera States, Beverly States, Dr. Jacob Cookey, and Kristie Creighton. The workshops are sponsored by, The Association of Black Social Workers, East Preston United Baptist Church Health and Wellness Ministry and the East Preston Daycare Centre.
