What happens to you after you die? At age 12, Alex MacInnis saw his mother die in the blink of an eye. In a quiet moment he found himself lying on the grass in his backyard, watching the clouds and wondering about things he knew were beyond himself and his small Nova Scotia town.

Before he could search for answers, age and survival brought him firmly to the here and now. He joined the navy and sailed the world, learned a trade, settle down as a husband and father, and found life in the moment was the best there was. Then a sudden health crisis and a vision for years he told few about awakened his call to learn more of life beyond the here and now. Inspired by the words of St. Catherine of Siena, he now shares his journey, his doubts and his questions with an invitation for us to learn more as well.

About the author: Alex MacInnis is a barber, father of five and grandfather of 11. He lives with Pat, his wife of 50 years, in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.
